기술표준원은 WTO/TBT협정에 의거 "96년 2월 공산품 분야에 대한 우리나라의 WTO/TBT 공식질의처로 지정된 이후, 국내 기술 규정안의 WTO 통보, 외국의 통보문의 접수 및 번역보급, 외국으로부터의 질의에 대한 답변제공 등의 업무를 수행하고 있습니다.
- 우리 수출업계에 미치는 영향이 클 것으로 예상되는 통보문에 대해서는 관련 국가로부터 새로운 규제내용에 대한 상세원문을 입수, 분석하여 관계 기관, 단체 업계와 공동으로 대책을 마련하는 등 신속히 대응하고 있습니다. 이와 반대로 우리나라에서 새로 제정되거나 개정되는 기술규정에 대하여 WTO 회원국에게 통보해야 하는 의무사항도 준수하고 있습니다.
