대만 BSMI은 상품의 안전성, 위생, 환경보호 및 기타 기술법규 및 표준에 따라 소비자의 권익을 보호하고 경제의 정상적인 발전을 도모하기 위해 제정되었음.

대만 국내에서 제조, 생산, 가공되는 농업, 공업, 광업상품과 수출 및 수입되는 상품은 상품검험법에 따라 상품검험을 받아야 함.

BSMI 인증은 제품의 종류에 따라 제품인증등록(RCP), 형식승인(Type approval), 자기적합성 선언(DoC) 등으로 나뉘며 BSMI에 요구사항에 따른 적합성평가를 마친 후 제품에 BSMI마크를 표시해 수출해야 함.
