On 30 May 2025, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) (notified as G/TBT/N/USA/2205) proposing to remove obsolete requirements from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 301, ''Fuel System Integrity.'' The agency received three comments on the proposed changes to FMVSS No. 301. The agency is adopting a revised version of the proposed changes in this final rule d on the comments received.Effective date: 6 July 2026.
