The U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE") is publishing a final rule to establish and amend the certification provisions, labeling requirements, and enforcement provisions for specific types of consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment, as described in sections II and III of this final rule. DOE is establishing and making amendments to the certification requirements, labeling requirements, and enforcement provisions for these products and equipment to ensure reporting that is consistent with currently applicable energy conservation standards and test procedures and to ensure DOE has the information necessary to determine the appropriate classification of products for the application of standards.>The effective date of this rule is 23 December 2024. This rule establishes new and amended certification and labeling requirements. For products or equipment for which this rule establishes the initial certification regulations for certifying compliance with new or amended standards, manufacturers must submit the initial certification report for basic models distributed in commerce beginning 7 May 2025.
